CKCSC & AKC Ch. Chadwick Your Place or Mine "Cleo"
Cleo at 21 months
Cleo winning Best in Show at 18 months under Judge, Elaine Lessig
Billy (Multi Ch Milkeyn Sheer Inspiration JW) on the left won Winner’s Dog while Cleo won Winner’s Bitch – they both took home the chairs as prizes
Cleo’s
mother’s name is Chadwick Indecent Affair therefore, sticking with the
risqué names,
we called Cleo Chadwick Your Place or Mine! A fitting call name was
Cleopatra –
and that’s how Cleo got her name.
Liz O’Brien had asked me for a show bitch but none came along. Finally I
had a pup
but due to health issues of one of the parents, I refused to sell her the
female
to start a breeding program. Months went by and Cleo was born – gorgeous
head
but she was cow hocked. Not good enough, I proclaimed! When Cleo was a
year old,
I happened to watch her gait away from me – lo and behold, that rear was no
longer cow hocked. I called Liz and said, okay, you can have her now.
Her first show was when she was out of the puppy classes. She was a wild
thing, leaping
all over the place. But that head – wow. Her second show weekend was in
June where she won Winner’s Bitch, Reserve Best in Show under breed
specialist, Barbara Garnett-Wilson, Laughing Cavaliers. Cleo was just awful
in the ring – Liz had strained her foot and could
not show her. So off she went into the ring with a complete stranger and
did she play up! Fortunately, the judge appreciated a dog with plenty of
character! Her third show
weekend was in August where she won Best in Show under another breed
specialist,
Elaine Lessig, RoiL Cavaliers. That same weekend, Cleo’s litter brother,
Chadwick Passion Puzzle, was Winner’s Dog, Reserve Best in Show and that was
his first major.
By August, Cleo had some training and Liz showed her – so she behaved
beautifully.
At 18 months and three show weekends, Cleo became a CKCSC Champion.
Shortly thereafter Cleo also finished her AKC Title.
